So close....

We are getting so close now...things will start to move much more quickly since more than one contractor will be able to be working....

Here is the house with her "roof"- I am in the blue coat standing in one of our bedroom windows:

Here is the inside with the framing completed (save 1 short wall in the kitchen):

Here are me and the boys just pleased as punch with the new progress:

Our framer added a little space to our keeping room for us - and although it messed with a couple of other things, we are pleased with the new space and look at anything it messed with as an opportunity. Being pretty flexible has made this process much easier. Of course, so has having an OPEN floor plan. If we had to make things match up perfectly with a million different rooms, it wouldnt have worked.

What I love about the roof is that now that you dont just see sky, you focus on the windows as that is where the light is coming from and you really see the views - The view from our room is incredible. Binoculars is on my list to bring next time....I want to see how far I can see ;)

The roof on also gives you the feel of a warehouse - which is what we were going for! J and I always had planned to raise kids at some point in the heart of the city (a city) in a loft. That is not in the plans and then we looked into moving a building (cost prohibitive) so we decided we would just build our own little warehouse. You just dont ever know if the way it feels in your head will play in real life - if it will feel as good - but this feels so much better....

Bunches of things will start happening soon, so we will keep yall updated on our "coolers" progress....

I wonder if Budweiser would pay us to paint the side to look like their cooler....we could auction off the naming rights ;)

Happy Happy New Year yall - Pray, Praise and Prepare in 2009!

That's a fine looking place. When it is finished, you'll be as snug as a bug in a rug. You have certainly done yourself proud on your new home.

It looks awesome, love all that openness. We're currently building and that was my one 'have-to-have'...big open area.
Good luck with it..

Love it, how are you going to utilize the open wharehouse floor?. Does the hole in the floor go anywhere ?

Thanks all for the sweet comments.

Anon - the floor will likely be cement fiber board (hardie board) that is sealed (its cheap and it looks like concrete and its a fire barrier).

As for the hole in the floor - my kitchen island goes over it and there is a slide that goes from under the cabinets to the center of the basement in the play room. The kids' rooms open onto the playroom.

We realized that since we will never sell, and there are no covenants, we could get as fun and weird as we want :)
