Wait...I AGREE with Dianne Feinstein???

Get out your ice skates because Hell is freezing over....I am finding the whole "Dont let Burris play with us" thing absolutely fascinating. Today, Congress swore in its new monkeys, BUT the Sgt. At Arms, wouldnt allow Roland Burris to enter. Dianne Feinsten thinks he should be sworn in, and I agree, but Harry Reid had the nerve to say, he isnt qualified to be Senator....

Excuse me, Harry? You mean this BLACK man, who has done nothing isnt qualified to be Senator? Well, if you let him in, in 2 years, he will be qualified to be President. Hey Hillary, did you hear that? I guess you werent qualified to be a Senator either since you were only the wife of the President and Caroline, dont get your hopes up either because being a dead President's daughter isnt enough to get you a Senators job either. And dont even get me started on Al Franken.....

Harry, you need to pick an argument and stick with it - either you want qualified people or you dont - you cant have it both ways. You cant say a Governor isnt qualified to be Vice President, a 2 year Junior Senator is qualified to be President and then Burris isnt qualified to be a Senator....My head is starting to spin....

Either seat him or hold a special election....pick one and take your chances, Harry....

You know what I want more than "qualified"? I want honest - I want a hard work ethic - I want someone who views moving to DC as an inconvenience and not a new lifestyle.

I dont care if you are a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent or Ross Perot - how about just be freaking honest.....

*** This concludes the Political Rant of the day....

Tomorrows post is "back to normal" as in lets get on with the preps!

I believe the qualifications are to be a US citizen, a resident of x state and of a given age. That is it.

I concur whole heartedly. Why does Harry Reid think he is able to decide who can and can't be a senator? Yeah Blankovich(sp)is probably guilty as sin but he is the sitting governor and thus is in charge of making appointments.

Well, lets see: he's black, he's never held an honest job in his life, and he's a Chicago politician. He's obviously qualified to be president. Senator? Maybe not.

The one difference between 0bama and Burris is that 0bama won (or stole) an election, and Burris didn't.

I'm not sure whether Blagovich is still empowered to appoint anyone: that's a question for the Illinois courts. I am sure that Burris is under a terrible cloud of suspicion because Blago appointed him. No decent person would take the appointment on those terms. Of course, Burris is a Chicago politician, so he's no decent person.

If the senate seats Burris, they will be showing approval of Blago, they will be making a mockery of the integrity and dignity of the senate, and they will be encouraging us all to hold the entire Congress in the utmost contempt. How appropriate!

So, yes, Reid is spouting nonsense when he says not qualified. Unless, by not qualified, he means something like: ``Disqualified by reason of gross immorality.'' That would make Reid a terrible hypocrite, but better a hypocrite than a crook without the grace to be ashamed of his crimes.

I wonder if this could be a convoluted, nefarious plot. Once they seat Burris, he falls under the Senate rules - and can be impeached. At least the "little people" in Illinois wouldn't be irritating the "important Senators".

Besides - has Obama actually left his seat open in the Senate yet? That would be one reason I could see to delay seating Burris.
