This Russian is right....almost

If you havent seen this: WSJ Link its an interesting read....

The part I agree with is that this is the way the country will split. This Russian obviously doesnt know us very well....

First - I dont see Tennessee, WV, and Kentucky joining the same union as New York - PULEESE...

The "South" will definitely need to nab at least WV as we could become Saudi Arabia if we generate our own coal to oil program as well as all our own power and sell it to the other snooty unions (those in Red and Green.)

Second - I dont see Idaho and Utah staying with California and those nuts in Seattle - I see them sticking with Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota and North Dakota.

Third - I dont see the independent minded AMERICANS going either with Mexico as he states the Texas Republic would - Mexico has their hands full right now with their own problems. The Texas Republic (all the blue area) would have TONS of resources and could pretty much stand on their own. They have oil, coal, shipping channels and access to port. They also have long growing seasons and know how to feed themselves. They farm and ranch.... Thanks to non-union states, they have manufacturing...

OR I dont see the independent minded AMERICANS going with Canada. If anything, I see many of those states poised to remain with the Texas Republic and we would basically loose some of the edges.

And he is absolutely NUTS if he thinks Alaska will go to Russia without a HUGE fight.... That fight for the oil will be ugly....

The little Russian is right that there are no miracles and Obama cant work them.... And I will give him the June 2010 date - quite a bit of what I have read talks about 2010. BO will DO something mostly because doing NOTHING doesnt look good even though that is what he should do - LEAVE THINGS ALONE and let the FREE MARKET get us back on track.

All this to say - stock up - prepare - know what you are going to do when - set yourself up to stay safe, stay in shelter, stay fed, stay alive...

And as always - Pray, Praise and Prepare....

Typical that I can't find the link... just read a commentary saying pretty much the same thing, and citing Joel Garreau's book The Nine Nations of North America.

I am NOT going to hang out with Seattle, Portland and Southern California. Now, the great state of Jefferson... well, that might be another matter altogether. ;)

Of course I find it seconds after I hit POST.

Yup, I reckon Texas would stand alone, as we have before. If we did join with Mexico, I'd be outta here faster than a jackrabbit with his butt on fire..... As an old Lone Star Beer commercial went, "The Lone Star is on the rise again. Yeee Hawwww!" We'd never join up with Mexico.....

He has his map all wrong. He just doesn't know true America. Indiana, since slavery's no longer an issue, is going south. Some states might split into parts, but a lot of people in the big cities would change their outlook or die as they fled the cities into the country. I expect Illinois would change drastically as Chicago ceased to exist as we know it.

The California part makes more sense, if you accept the premise that it will go to China. Leave the states under their own leadership? I agree - they would split California off and donate Seattle. But put China in charge, and on one gets a chance, or a voice. CA would be the new Hong Kong, the rest would be sources of wood and iron scrap - and poverty zones with warlords.

Maureen F. McHugh's SF novel "China Mountain Zhang" paints a pretty bleak picture of China taking over - buying - a bankrupt US. Don't forget - China owns, as in foreign soil *own* their own port in San Diego.

I agree that Indiana wouldn't likely go with Illinois - more likely Ohio would go East, Indiana South.

But - what about the movie coming out about "2012"? And the International Human Continuity organization (the movie-promoting www.TheIHC.com) that lets you sign up for a ticket to survive the end of the world?

I think if their is a breakdown of this magnitude, that we will have massive interference at economic as well as military levels from Muslims and Latinos before the dust settled - if we accept this kind of security failure, we could be depending on Israel to show us how to fight and survive the way they do today.

A strong economy is crucial for good security. I am troubled I haven't heard any plans on strengthening the defense budget.

Brad- you haven't heard about MuBarack Hussein Obamanation's plan to institute a Civilian Force equal to all the Armed Forces combined? Shucks, we gotta get you up to speed, Man ;)
Otherwise: with the Obamaination, I doubt you'll hear anything about beefing up or maintaining the military since he's always been against it- must be something about having a standing military that prevents taking over a country or somthing.
There was a similar report out a few years ago, I think I saw it on a Rad Blogsite. Was unnerving then, is more unnerving now due to the current economics. Still, with the rest of the world in much the same boat, I don't see it happening in the next few years. Old Wild Winkie Clinton sure knew how to deal with those pesky Chinese, though: sell them our ports and most of the West Coast.
Now we're gonna have them as masters as well as neighbors. Too, with as much of our debt as they 'own', they'll be getting a larger chunk of the whole country whenever they want it. We'll definitely be fighting a colored enemy when TSH.

I think it would be simplistic to assume all states would stay unified. IMHO Washington and Oregon could both potentially split at the Cascades. There just isn't anything linking them except being in the same state.

I would move back to Cascadia in a heartbeat.

I have a hard time thinking that even the sheeple would be dumb enough to let something like that happen, but than some things never cease to amaze me.
As for Obammy's idea of a civilian force, we wouldn't need one if the GDP (baaaaa), still believed in the second amendment. After all, THAT'S why it was put there. Like I said, some things never cease to amaze me.
Happy New Year everyone.
May god bless us all.

This was the topic at lunch today. Three of us thought the basic idea was feasible. One of us felt the federal government would use the alphabet agencies to crush any such attempt.

I know there are plenty of people in the South who would rejoice to be free of the baleful influence of New England and California.
