Mr. Amish saves America - PART 2

There was general outrage regarding the previous post - not really surprise, because we are a pretty calloused group in regards to the Govt - but the post generally hacked people off. There was also a request for any further information....I put my fingers to work and here is what I found...

This LINK is the court information currently available. You will see that Mr. Miller is expected back in court in March, 2009. The type of case that is being pursued against Mr. Miller is what is called a Complex Forfeiture - which means that if the State wins, they get to fine Mr. Miller. When Mr. Miller cant pay, the state takes his land as I previously discussed in the previous article.

The despicable thing about this case as stated HERE is that this is a test case to check on the Constitutionality of Wisconsin's law. So....the big, bad state of Wisconsin takes an Amish man to court - a man who because of his RELIGION will not put up much of a fight. They dont go after a big land owner - one that has the money to fight them, but Mr. Miller.

Please note that if you live in TEXAS and WISCONSIN, the NAIS is NOT VOLUNTARY. The Federal NAIS is voluntary, but they have passed laws in these 2 states (probably more and more to come) that on the STATE LEVEL it IS NOT VOLUNTARY.

I can see Wisconsin passing something like this, but I have a hard time believing that Texas has done this - my beloved Texas. I cant imagine Texas ranchers going along with this....especially when it results in a land grab -I shudder to think the revolt that WILL erupt if the NAIS goes after Texas ranches, farms, property.

People - hunt down the NAIS activity in your state. Learn what is going on - KNOW where your reps stand on the issue and make yourself heard. It is abundantly clear that the Feds have turned over the implementation as well as the enforcement to the States which is good for us. We have a better chance stopping this where we live and not in Washington. This is the "good news" in this fiasco of Government socialism.

I would also welcome any State information from yall out there - We are a pretty savvy group, we write, we email and we call. I would like to pass on any information to help us make ourselves heard....

If someone has a link as to the properties already listed as "premises" it would be welcome. From what I understand, the Govt/States call farmers and try to sign them up on the phone without the owners realizing what is going on. Also, if someone knows if there is a way to get your name OFF the list, that would be helpful too....

UPDATE: Its a good thing my kids can fix their own lunch, because I have been totally worthless today - Have been on an NAIS hunt....It seems that Oklahoma submitted a bill - HB1842 - that would not require NAIS Pin Number on any "Premise" that sells less than $10,000. While this bill was in subcommittee, it was reworked, of course.

The bill now is the MOST RESTRICTIVE NAIS bill out there - it basically KICKS OUT THE NAIS from the State of Oklahoma. My prayer is that this does not die in committee. If you live here, there are some FABULOUS talking points WHEN you call your reps... TALKING POINTS

GET THIS LAW PASSED....

I only have one disagreement with your post, and that is with your comment that Mr. Miller's religion will prevent him from fighting back. It was one Amish man who refused to comply with social security, and now the Amish as a whole do not have to participate in social security. It was also a handful of Amish men who fought compulsory attendance laws, and now the Amish as a whole do not have to follow mainstream education laws. They also are exempt from signing up for selective service. They may be non-violent, but I don't think the Amish back down from the .gov (and I say good for them, it has to start somewhere).

I was not familiar with NAIS before this, but I'll do some research to see how it works in Louisiana.

I was trying to find some info on LA NAIS (so far all I've found is that it's voluntary), and I found this interview on the Equine Network site I thought you'd be interested in.

Angela - thanks for the link - there is now a new sidebar about the NAIS on the blog.

In regards to the Amish not fighting back - They will not actively hunt out an attorney for their defense. In fact, Mr. Miller is on his second attorney - the first one appointed by the Judge and this new one sought out by supporters of Mr. Miller. I believe that if Mr. Miller did not have these benefactors that found the second lawyer, the State would have ground him up, legally speaking.

Ok, sorry to be taking up your comments, but I found another link with info on how to opt out of the registration after you've registered. It also lists how certain states have reacted to NAIS. It hasn't been updated since the summer of 2007, but I think the information is still helpful.

Also, this NAISinfocentral site has state by state information.

Being a resident of the Peoples Socialist Republic of Wisconsin, I can tell that this has alot of people, not only Amish, scared. I live near a rather large Amish Community and they are very concerned but Angela is right these people have real courage and will not take this laying down.

The Powers that Be want to know where thier food is located so they can send the Military to get it when the time comes for that. THAT is what NAIS is really about.

Carl - if you can forward any articles you find, it would be a great help. Man, I hope Mr. Miller wins....

Mayberry - I agree...I have been going over it in my head - between my animals, my brother's animals and my parents - we may be able to keep the animal lines going without inbreeding or having to break the law by moving animals off property - not that I wouldnt put a baby pig in the back of the car and get it mixed up with a neighbor's piglet and accidently take his home instead :) But I am not registering anything...I am with you!

Look at the bottom starting with the green where they talk about internet rumors. Some of them I have not even thought of and I tend to have a suspicious mind of late!....LOL
