This time of year, Mary and the precious Baby Jesus get all the spotlight. But I have been thinking about Joseph....
He was probably older than Mary - I have always had a thing for older guys.... He worked with his hands; he was probably physically fit - so far, this man is batting a 1000 with me....
But this is the Man that God chose to raise His Son, to care for His Son, to protect His Son. He was the kind of man that when his fiance came to him to tell him she was pregnant, he didnt want to embarrass her, but was going to "divorce" her quietly. And after a dream, believes the dream and his fiance and takes her and this baby as his. He knew what was right despite contrary evidence or outward pressures.
He was the kind of man that when the King tries to kill his Son, he took his family, left, and managed to make a life for them for over 2 years in another country. The original Bug Out...He knew what was coming and took proactive action.
He knew a trade but also knew the value of education, letting Jesus study at the temple.
He raised a good family. He was a good husband. He survived. I just think its time to give Joseph the props he deserves....

WHERE do You exist, woman? of your ilk, naught are to be found c'est soir...
You ARE pure: pure woman. Somewhere on this green Earth is my Yew Berry...
Lay with him;
god so ordered.

I'm sure Joseph is blushing right now... Merry Christmas Pearls!
Cygnus - Thank you so much! Merry Christmas and may you find your Yew this year!
Mayberry - Merry Christmas to you too!
"And so Joseph fixed his countenance upon the land and girded up his loins and said 'Yea, verily, I sayeth, come get some....'"
