GE and IBM....

Do you listen to the radio? Do you watch any TV at all? Both of these companies have been running commercials touting how wonderful they are - how their new products/inventions will save the world and your pocket book....but at what cost?

They are touting medical advances as well as all your medical information at their fingertips (whose fingertips?) as well as smart grids, wind/solar panels and a bunch of other stuff that sounds just great....

You see - not one bit of it is good....Not. A. Bit. Lets get an easy one out of the way - who thinks having all your information - all your medical information - in the hands of the Government is going to stay that way? I didnt think so - how many think that the Government wont use that information to somehow have a cholesterol tax, or maybe a heart attack tax - if they have to pay for your poor health, they will tax you because of it.... Dont doubt me...

Now, on to this "Smart Grid". This is where some other entity determines how much electricity you get. No, you say, they will just move electricity around to make sure that everyone has enough.... PuhShaw, I tell you. If you look at how money is distributed in this country, where blue areas get the most money, what makes you think that the same wont go for energy as well? NYC and California will have plenty, but poor Alabama is going to get hosed on this deal....

And dont even get me started on the privacy issues.... So, the Government has to "stay out of my bedroom" but it gets to decide how cold it is? It is NO ONE'S BUSINESS if I keep my thermostat at 72, 68 or 62 (and yes, I have kept it at 62 degrees in August - I was 9 months pregnant and would have killed anyone who said anything about it). I pay those bills.... But, You Evil Rich Hoarder, what about all those people who cant afford to keep their pregnant selves at 62 degrees? Its not fair that you do....

Nope, its not fair at all - but you know what? Life isnt fair. You dont hear me bitching about those people who pay someone else to have their babies, when I had to do it all myself do you? No, you do not. We all have our crosses to bear.... I had to give birth and pay a mortgage payment for electricity - some have to make due with 72 degrees and some have no air conditioning at all....

We are currently in the middle of the "life isnt fair" lessons with our 6yo. He has an older sis and an older bro and bless his heart, he doesnt get to do near the stuff they do - NOPE. I make no apologies for it to him either. I havent used what my mom used on me "I love your brother more" because I think the sarcasm would be lost on him at this young age and I dont want to scar him for life ;) Sometimes I think the Government are just a bunch of 6yo brats.... Wait....I think I am on to something.....

My first comment did not post. I really liked the part about a pregant Pearls in an ice box of a house during the heat of summer. If my wife was pregnant during the summer I would wear a sweater and sign the checks.

I concur life is not fair. The sooner people recognize that the better off we will all be.

If only they were 6 yo brats.

At least 6 y.o.'s can be made to see the light.

Exactly the reasons why I'd like to "drop off the radar", as it were. Off grid, growin' my own vittles, paid in cash, not oweing a soul a dime..... In a word, FREE.

Health care is about to become like car insurance when “no fault” insurance was adopted in my state decades ago. No one could be denied car insurance but those who had too many accidents were assigned to the “assigned risk pool”, where they paid out the @ss for coverage.

Once they determine you are overweight, have high cholesterol or high blood pressure or, God forbid cancer, you will be charged a premium for health insurance. At the same time, you will be triaged to be the last for life saving meds and procedures…unless you belong to TPTB!
