Open Letter to the POOR....

Dear Poor Person,

I hope you can read this....really. Because if you are from a family that is perpetually poor, you might have a hard time reading this, but I will get to that in a minute.

Mr. and Mrs. Poor Person, I would like to give you my heartfelt condolences. You see, you dont seem to realize that you are being kept poor on purpose. The Powers that Be - namely, the Democrats have a vested interest in keeping you poor. Sorry, big word there "vested" - it means that they need to keep you poor. You may wonder what you do for them by being so poor - well, you keep them in power. You vote Democrat 99% of the time and elected officials like to stay in power so they need to keep you poor. Have you noticed that most elected Democrats ARENT poor? They may tell you that they WERE poor, but they arent any more.

They also tell you that YOU NEED THEIR HELP to not be poor anymore. Funny how they were poor and now they arent and they did it, but you Poor Person, need their help.

You may not have figured it out because Democrats need you to stay stupid too - actually they need you to stay ignorant. The schools you went to and the schools you send your kids to are some of the worst. That isnt for lack of funds, let me tell you that! Poor school gets TONS of Federal Dollars - take Washington DC for example. They spend almost $25,000 PER STUDENT which is $10,000 MORE THAN PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN THE AREA - wonder if those Public School students feel like they are getting a private school education? I doubt it. They need to keep you ignorant or you might figure out what Democrats are up to and vote for someone else....You might realize that YOU are all you need.....

Dont even get me started on that "Ebonics" stuff of many years ago - they wanted the Nation to buy that because it would ensure that you had a harder time getting off the Government's money. Making you think that speaking and writing iin such a way was fine would limit your options in regards to education and employment. Honestly, that kind of talk sounded stupid and no one is going to hire someone that they cant understand and with whom they cant communicate. Just another way for Democrats to keep control over you.... It wasnt about acceptance, it was about power and keeping you in poverty.

Its also interesting to find out that those areas that elect Democrats most often are THE POOREST IN THE COUNTRY.... These cities havent elected a Republican or ANYONE ELSE that isnt a Democrat in YEARS...some since the beginning of LAST century.... Whats the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over expecting to get different results?

You are given a check every month - How does that feel - Doesnt that make you feel awful? Or did you buy the line that you are OWED this money? Why are you owed it? What have you dont that you deserve something that someone else worked for? How would you feel if someone came and took your check and said that you had to give it to someone else? Its not right and deep down you know this and that is why it feels like crap.

Democrats tell you that you are so poor that you dont need to contribute, you dont need to pay taxes - well thats not true, is it? How are those cigarettes? I am sure you know exactly how much the Government tax went up recently. There is also a new program where you turn in your clunker car for Government monies. You may not realize how this will affect your ability to buy a car but let me tell you - if I want to go buy a new car - I will go spend a couple hundred bucks to trade it in to be crushed in order to get $4500 from the Government. The pool of cheap, used cars will become smaller and therefore will cost more. Also, if you have a clunker, it will cost more to fix if it breaks down because parts will become scarce. No more pull-apart junkyards.... Stuff also costs more where you live - bread is more expensive, gas is more expensive, basic necessities are more expensive. Its like a tax for living in the wrong part of town....

I am not saying you need to run out and elect a Republican. Not. In. The. Least. Some of them are just as bad as a Democrat. But you need to look at what a person has DONE and what they SAY and HOW THEY LIVE.... Do they want to give you the old cliche "a hand UP and not a hand OUT" - do they want to "TEACH you to fish or just GIVE you a fish"? Do they want the Government out of their lives, out of their business and SMALL? Do they support the FAIR TAX? (Which is a tax on what you buy, if you dont buy a lot, no tax - if you but a bunch, a large tax, but ultimately, YOU decide what you pay).

Look, I dont want to make you feel worse than you already do - it has got to be a hard life. But you know what? Its not the only like you could have. There is this thing called LIBERTY - its FREEDOM. It means that you can do anything you want. And honestly, you dont have to do it alone. There is nothing more attractive for an employer, a neighbor, a volunteer, a HUMAN than to see someone working hard towards a goal. The Human Spirit is one of generosity. We want to help those that are working hard - we just do!!! We want to give people a chance..... Test this....

I dont have all the answers for you, but thats a good thing. You make your own answers.

The pride in your own accomplishments is more than anything that could be bought with a government check. The pride of a child in a parent who works and supports their family - the pride of a parent who works and sees their child go to school, college, work, produce.

Its the stuff dreams are made of - The American Dream....

Interesting post. Please don't take offense but not all poor people vote Democrat. Not all poor people live in cities. Not all poor people want government handouts. Some people that are poor got that way due to illness, etc. and are struggling each day to pull themselves out of the situation they've arrived in. Hopefully they won't be perpetually poor but in this economy, it's not all that hard to become poor.

Absolutely no offense :)

All poor is not relative, I totally understand that - been poor myself - I think back to those newly married years and sometimes just shake my head.

Its the perpetually poor to whom this letter is written - wallowers and not those that have been hit by life - those who are in a house now after Katrina are not the focus of this letter, but those still in a trailer waiting for the Government to take care of them.

Not quite what I expected but very interesting. I enjoyed it.

Pearls. {grabbing her shoulder and shaking}
Wake up, Pearls. You've been dreaming. You think knowledge will actually empower those who decide to stay in those positions.

Oh, you poor girl, go back to sleep. Dreams are sweet, aren't they.

:(

Meadowlark - Probably not, but I feel so much better - kind of like I do when I rant to myself pacing in front of the TV or when I lecture in the car while I am alone ;)
