Kids' Insurance is a FAMILY PRIORITY - not my TAX BURDEN....

THIS ARTICLE RIGHT HERE GAVE ME A HEADACHE.....

It states that the Government is going to require everyone to have health insurance. What if I dont want it? What if I want to pay for a doctor out of my own pocket? What if I am a billionaire and just dont want to pay premiums?

I have a few more questions - if every American HAS to have health care, does that mean that hospitals no longer have to take those that are not insured? Is there a way to ensure that illegals are not coming here and sucking our system dry, more so than they already do?

What if a doctor wants to only provide services for cash - no insurance at all for anyone?

Jump to another nifty little fact that THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY ARE EMPLOYED BY or ARE SMALL BUSINESSES.....

We are a small business owner - we pay for everything ourselves - our health insurance, all our insurances....everything....and we get hit a couple times in taxes....taxes suck, in case you didnt know that :) Anyway....we have a couple employees too - not full-time, but part-time - but friends/family/loved nonetheless..... We will not be able to pay for health insurance for those employees....

This is the situation a lot of employers will find themselves. If they are going to have to pay even more, they will hire temp workers through an agency (then those workers are employees of the agency and all the taxes/insurance is the agency's problem) or they will fire them and a family member will take their place. I can see a situation where I will go to the office and pitch in.... What I spend in time is mine and we save on taxes and all the other crap - man already pays for the family's health insurance.....

Back to taxes - I am already taxed enough - If a family is making $88,000 they can buy their own health insurance and my tax dollars should NOT in ANY WAY be used to help them get it.... Sell the Wii, the crap, cook at home and sell the boat.... Your kids' health should be your PRIORITY and NOT MY TAX BURDEN.... I make sacrifices to make sure my kids have health care and ya know what? WE DONT HAVE A Wii....

This may spawn a new breed of doctor. A doctor who doesnt want the Government with their hands around their throat. A doctor who decides that they are going to be cash only and in going CASH ONLY they dont have to have all the hired workers to file all the insurance crap and hassle with the paperwork. A nurse and a receptionist and everything is good.... That doctor, I would visit in a HEART BEAT. Keep the medical insurance that would cover hospital stays and let the rest go.....

Off to cook my fam dinner....littlest has his Kindy Graduation tonight and he is going to be darn cute....will focus on that sweet little face and not that of Rat Face Pelosi.....

I will shamefully admit that I have always had insurance so I do not really have a very good understanding of the insurance issue.

I will say that we had a case here locally where the parents didn't want to purchase insurance (too expensive, although their mobile home did have several ATVs parked outside it) and when the kid was injured competing in a local "ski education foundation" event, the community was up-in-arms when "everyone" didn't want to contribute to his medical care.

I would have preferred to kick the parents in the ass. But I'm mean that way.

Have fun at the "gad-eee-ay-shun"

I'm not sure I agree with health insurance for everyone but I believe that those that can't afford it should have health insurance for basic/critical care especially for children.

We have a Wii and insurance. However I would not complain about it being anybodies problem if we did not have insurance. I would either make choices that would allow us to get insurance or not complain. Kids however need insurance.

I buy health insurance for my two kids, 23 and 24. I pay $550 a month for it. Blue Cross just told me they are going to raise the premiums to $750.00 a month starting in July. My daughter has been very sick for over a year now. She has been to many specialists and had a lot of expensive tests. Even though I pay that much for the best policy I could get, my "share" of the costs have exceeded $10,000 since December of 2008. I pay for my kids and we don't ask for or accept anything from anyone or entity. But , having played the game the way I saw it, I find myself owing a lot of money to bloodsuckers from the medical industry. If I were a minority, I could just apply for "charity" status, as more than one provider has asked me to do because that was easier to just write off than it was to accept my $50 or $100 a month.
That's not our style, but I can say for sure that paying a fortune for insurance is no guarantee you will be ok if somebody gets sick. Far from it. The insurance industry is corrupt and incompetent beyond your wildest imagination.
If one of your kids gets sick and you have the misfortune to be white, you better have insurance. The doctors and medical facilities you need won't give you the time of day if you don't.

I actually dont think you need insurance for a kid....

Mine were basically healthy except for getting tonsils out and if you cover well baby/immunizations then mostly the other stuff can be footed out of pocket - for some....

I bet the biggest savings to hospitals and then to the insurance companies and then to us would be making sure every woman had maternity coverage. that is where it gets really expensive....

Hermit, bless your heart. There is no reason for things to cost the what they do is that uninsured go to the emergency room for a cold - that cost is figured into all prices for those that HAVE INSURANCE and that is what the insurance companies pay which determines what you pay as a premium. If you pay for your own insurance, you pay for much more than yours and that is not right...

that is why if you go to a hospital and tell them you are paying cash and want to write a check for services, you can negotiate the price down....racket....

The really scary part is if they make that illegal. Remember hilary's version of socialized medicine? It would have made cash transactions outside the goverment system illegal.

If the people really insist on "free" healthcare then we will all get it good and hard.

Bitmap has my view: They'll make it illegal to practice medicine outside of the system - as they define it. For the system to work "for the whole", everyone must be involved, like it or not.

Off to the gulag and re-education camps for you outsiders!

We had a war on poverty. Ask anyone on the streets how that worked out.

We had a war on drugs. Ask anyone living near a drug-affected family, or near the Mexico border, or near any place with gang violence .. well, you get the picture.

We have laws in most states that you cannot drive without insurance. All states also offer or require insurance for uninsured or underinsured motorists.

Someone has to remind Oh! Bummer! and the Congress about the golden rule - the one that *has* the gold makes the rules. They ain't got much gold (and they have wasted most of that) - we cannot allow them spend what anyone else has.

Requiring us to buy insurance is really, really lame. They cost us tax money to enforce the law, universal insurance means there is no competition in the market place - which makes the scam perfect for graft and corruption. And that doesn't get into the opportunity for scams and abuse.

So Brad, who exactly is it that will be "getting richer"?

Oh. I forgot. The RICH (who RUN the scams).

SIGH :(

With the proposed electronic medical records and the gov't deciding who gets medical care, adding mandatory insurance will just give them another way to track us. Me, I want to be as anonymous as possible.
