Take a hike....

So Spring is almost here - the early flowering trees are starting to bud...

If you own land, now is the time to take a hike. I have done this for the past couple of years. I have neon green plastic "tape" and hot pink. I walk our land and I tie a flag around the trunks of trees that are flowering Plums. We have 2 kinds of plums - the bushy Sand Plums and the Wild Mexican Plums. I mark these now because its easiest to spot them and to make sure that we dont plow those under if we are clearing any land. Those tiny plums are good just to pick off the tree or to make jam.

I also mark Redbud trees with the hot pink. Its our State's Tree and it is down right beautiful and those trees are expensive. We are blessed that they grow wild on our land. I can move the small ones or if they are bigger, make them a focal point of a trail or a scenic area or garden.

So, now while things are fair and beautiful as well as flowering - get out there and mark things on your land.

Have anywhere from 9 to 14 inches of wet snow coming in by tomorrow, so don't think I'll be taking a spring walk just yet. Besides, there are no robins in the area so spring is at least one robin away.
