Declaration for Dummies

I dont speak the Queen's English - as fully supported by my bootycall post - but I do translate....




I have a theory about the Declaration of Independence. I purport that it isnt read more because of its language - you have to think.....So, I am coming to the rescue - allow me to translate....




When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.




In the natural course of Human (thats people)'s lives, there sometimes comes a time that the Political crap that holds us together - the parties, the Government - must come apart. We must end those ties. We must end those ties in order for all to have opportunity that is given to them by the Laws of Nature and by God - where people give each other a decent respect for each other and their opinions.





We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.





These Truths are OBVIOUS - all Men ARE CREATED EQUAL. There is no person that is more important than another. Just the fact that God created Man gives them the RIGHT to Life, Freedom and the RIGHT to do what makes you happy - to try and make yourself happy.



** My commentary: And I propose that it is THESE RIGHTS that is breeding the current discontent - the current unhappiness - the current wariness of this Government. These 3 rights are INHERENT - there is no reason to explain them, people FEEL them, they KNOW them in their core. Its is these rights that are being OBVIOUSLY trampled on by the Government. When the Government takes from someone to give to someone else, it is the violation of these basic rights. ** Back to the Declaration of Independence....




That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.





In order for people to make SECURE, to ensure, these rights, THE PEOPLE establish a Government. And the Government gets its powers from those that it governs, WE THE PEOPLE - with our consent. Whenever the Government becomes destructive - when it begins acting outside the permission given to it by The People - IT IS THE RIGHT of the People to either change the Government or to GET RID OF IT ALL TOGETHER and put in its place, a NEW Government. And when that NEW GOVERNMENT is established, it will be layed upon a FOUNDATION, that seems to the PEOPLE to be best for THE PEOPLE's Safety and Happiness.





Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.




For obvious reasons, it is not smart or wise to change long established Governments for frivolous and non-important reasons. If history has shown us anything, it is that People will suffer needlessly instead of changing the Government when it needs to be Changed. The adage - better the Devil you know than the Devil you dont.... But when The People have had enough and the list of what the Government has done in abusing The People is long - so long that the Government has become a heavy burden - a Tyrant, it is The People's right - it is their Duty - The People MUST throw off this evil Government and provide a new Guard (Government) for the People's future Security.




The Declaration of Independence then lists the reasons the Colonies wanted to be free from King George and England....Funny thing is, many of those reasons are reasons the current population is VERY UNHAPPY with the current Government. Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.





We tried to tell our Brothers in England what their Government was doing - how the Government was mistreating us - but they have been deaf and refused to hear. We tried to appeal to the fact that we are brothers and remind them of the reasons we came to America - we tried to get them to understand just because no one should be treated this way - but they refused to help us. Because our brothers in England would not help, they are no longer our brothers. We will treat them as we treat the rest of the World - when we are at War, they are our enemies and when we are at Peace, they are our friends.




We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.





We the People, appeal to God to help us, on the behalf of the People of the Colonies declare and tell all that these Colonies are FREE and we are INDEPENDENT states. We abolish all ties and allegiance to the British Crown and abolish all political connections to the State of Great Britain. Again, we are FREE and we are INDEPENDENT States. We have the power to wage War, to have Peace, to make Contracts, to make Allegiances, to establish Commerce and Print Monies and do everything that every other INDEPENDENT Country can do. In support of this Declaration of Independence we plead for God's protection and His support and we pledge to each other our Lives, Our Fortune (all that we have) and our sacred Honor (all that we are).




I could weep for the men that signed this document - for their vision, for their bravery, for their Providence. I could also weep for what the Government has become and what they have done to tarnish this document that is so precious. The Founding Fathers said it all....there is nothing else I could add....



God Bless The United States of America - we need Him now more than ever....
