Dude - I hate to tell you, but this isnt November and the People arent pleased....

I guess its easy to forget about the MILLIONS of calls, letters, faxes, and emails to the Senate and the House by people that ARE NOT PLEASED with the spending and what is going on.... I bet that there were those that voiced their opinion that voted on this guy and are now regretting it....

If he really worked for us, if they all REALLY worked for us in Washington, they would be fired by now....

Yall just wait - 2010 is not that long away, We The People have long memories and your careers will be short....

Tying up loose ends and why I am married to THE BEST Man in the World :)

Have a Patriot post in the works which should launch sometime this week - also have a house blog to write - TONS of stuff happening on that front....

And there is the Tea Party that I "attended" yesterday. Its in quotes because I got there at 12:10 after having to run out of town for some screws, for the love of Pete, and drop them off at the house. Anyway, when I drove 'round the Capitol, there were people walking to their cars....The Tea Party People are sticklers for their schedule, which as a stickler myself, I can appreciate. Anyway, the most I can say is that there was one and I am not sure how many attended, but there were some and I heard from another family that got there at 1:00 so there could have been a bigger party and a longer one, if people had stuck around.

I am pleased for them for the first time out - This protesting thing is new to most and the more People hurt, the more that they feel that they arent being heard and are being hurt by Government, the more these kinds of things will be popular and well attended, not to mention FREQUENT.

There is a gun show in the city today - the Hubs just texted and said he was getting me a Stainless 9mm, private sale....Have I told yall lately how much I love that man? Well I do and its obvious why ;)

Thats about all I have right now - there will be a House post tomorrow and We The People this week... Stay warm - it got butt cold here over night.....

We The People arent anyone's BootyCall....

I know just about everyone has THIS STORY or one just like it up on their blog....

My point isnt to rally yall with shouts of We The People or the Second Amendment....

No - I have a far loftier goal....To make fun of these idiots....

I am sorry - but Holder must be one of the stupidest AG's we have ever had....Does he REALLY think that the Mexican Drug Cartels come over here and by assault rifles? Come on Holder.....

I know Government schools can be bad - I am a product of one, but then I also had intelligent parents who expected us to read, sent us to college, discussed current events in the home......but they are not bad enough that he can just say stupid stuff like this and people will just eat it up.

One of these days, people will wake from their Obama Comas and realize that what he says (which he does well as long as his teleprompter isnt broken) really sounds good. It "feeeelllllss" good....he talks all sunshine and happiness......all hope and healing.....but in the very next moment he does something that makes him a liar. Maybe like spending us into oblivion? Maybe saying he inherited the problem of the deficit without mentioning he added almost a TRILLION dollars to it? Maybe like saying he wont hire Lobbyists and then does the very next day? Maybe like saying that everyone is going to have to give up pet projects, even him, and that there will be no earmarks and then puts forth a budget that just overflows with spending and earmarks?

One day - and its coming soon - Obama wont have a free pass.... We all know there is Fox News out there and their ratings as well as their advertising dollar is rising. In this economy, one day VERY SOON, other media outlets will realize that being Obama's booty call isnt getting them anything. One day SOON, they will realize what the people want, what the people are demanding and they will begin to cover it - they will tell the People what the President is doing in all its Socialistic Horror. They will turn on what they created and begin to realize that the ratings lie in the truth and the truth is not flattering to Mr. Obama. Not all the media outlets - but enough.... One day soon, we will hear and read criticism of Obama and I predict that he wont take it too kindly. I dont know, call me cynical, but I dont think he takes criticism well - not well at all - I bet he gets snide, petty and pretty much a big ole baby.

I predict we will know its starting to happen when he begins to have more televised press-conferences. He will try to take his case "directly to the people".... He will do it during the day when the people that are pissed are out working and those that fawn over the President are home on the couch. And no, I didnt just take a swipe at stay at home moms - I am one, but I do not sit on the couch.... He will begin to do this with regular frequency and he will start to loose his cool. I bet we even begin to hear of tantrums thrown by the President, but those will probably NEVER be covered in mainstream media - they may have been a booty call, but they are a loyal booty call...

So keep it up We The People and wait and watch....Mr. Holder and of course, Mr. O, think you are stupid and easy. So easy in fact, I dont think he even kisses us before he screws us to the wall.... But dont worry - little by little, We The People are deleting Mr. O's number from our cells - this booty call is coming to an end and its ending fast!

Its EVIL and its UNCONSTITUTIONAL and there is a BIG POSSIBILITY that eventually FARMERS, LAND OWNERS, RANCHERS could LOOSE their land to Government seizure....

For anybody wondering what this is about, it is a show of protest against the bailouts. Government spending is out of control and if you pay taxes and work, your money is going to CEOs that get the big bonuses. I am not anti-capitalist, just against socialism. When the government steps in, it makes matters worse. People will still lose their jobs, companies will still flounder, but Congress is spending money we don't have. That is what we are standing against. Wasteful government spending of money that does not even exist.

I think I might pop on down to the Capital to see whats going on and I may even snap a few pics and give a report ;)

Self-fulfilling Prophesy.....

How many times have we heard - If you say it enough, it eventually becomes the truth.....

Its why the Saturday Night Live skit with Stuart Smalley was a hit -"The Daily Affirmation Show with Stuart Smalley" - well, maybe that was a bad example because I hate to break it to you Al, people dont like you....

But you know what I mean.....

I am concerned....

**I have heard the word "Revolution" from the Soap Box of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh (both of which have a HUGE - H.U.G.E. - audience)

** I have heard Jim DeMint call for protests

** I have heard the cheers that back up Rick Santelli

** I have read the article by the Guardian about a summer of Riots forcasted in England...

** I have heard commentary about the protests WORLD WIDE and then offhand comments that they are just ahead of us in regards to the recession and "downturn"


My question is this - Does the open discussion put us on a path for Revolution to be the only option? Do we create the future by talking about it in the present?

"Whats the worst that can happen?"

This is a question we have always asked our kids....Its a question I learned to ask myself when I was young. It works wonders getting over the fear of the unknown.

Be honest, its the unknown that keeps so many where they are....people are frozen because of fear - fear of failure, fear of success, fear of they dont know what is coming. This question walks you through the worst that can happen and when you actually visualize it - it just may not be that bad.

In my younger days, I used it before I did something I knew I wasnt supposed to do and if my perceived punishment didnt sound intolerable, I did what I wanted to do. I try to not let my kids see how this question can be used for evil ;) I try to let them see that the worst you think isnt the worst at all - its something you could actually live with...

It can be used when they are going to ask something of someone - whats the worst? They could say "No." - Not so bad....

It can be used when they are deciding to try for something - whats the worst? You might not make it - Not so bad....

It can be used to prepare kids in uncertain times - whats the worst? Well, we wont be able to afford your private school and we would homeschool you - To a teenager, it just might be worse than her imagination ;) Im kidding of course - but it allows the seed to be planted that if the worst does come to pass, it isnt a surprise, which is what makes the worst, worst.

I contend that its the shock - the surprise - that makes circumstances feel much more dire than they really are. The sudden loss, the sudden grief, the sudden change that no one likes.

Playing this little mental game also gives opportunities to figure out what they will do next - to have a plan - to be proactive. It gives kids a sense of control in times that may seem out of their control. They learn that their response - how they handle something - is ENTIRELY within their control. How they react to situations DIRECTLY influences how they will feel about that situation and how they respond and how they come out of it.

We have all met a "victim" - life happens to them, and its always the worst....they can become nails on a chalkboard....

Playing this game, keeps the "victim" at bay - thank goodness....

Playing this game gives a child power and lets face it, being a child can be one of the most powerless positions to hold in society. Giving your kids ability to cope with change and uncertainty could be one of the best lessons you teach....especially these days.....

No Couponing yesterday....

I tried - went through my circular and my coupons and there was like 1 thing that matched up - so I didnt go. They were having what looked like good sales for items - 10 for $10 they called it, but I could have gotten it cheaper at Walmart....

But I do want to tell you about a new grocery store I tried the other day - Aldi. Its not new here, but I finally went. Its a quirky place, where most of the items are their store brands and you have to bring you own bags. But they are cheap. All my cans were 49 cents and my chicken broth was 39 cents. They had everything you could really need to buy, but not the choice of all the different brands.

I bought 24 cans of Green Beans, 12 of Corn, 12 of Tomatoes, 12 of Sauce, 12 of Broth, 6 of Carrots, Ranch Dressing, Powdered Milk....This is all I can think of off my head and spent $50.00.

They do not take checks or credit cards - only cash or a debit card (so you need to know your pin number). You also have to have a quarter to get a cart, but you get it back when you hook your cart back up.

Funny little experience, but I will go back. Their canned chicken was not cheaper than Sams and I need to firm up some of my other prices - but they were the cheapest in regards to canned veggies and broth.

So there you have my report on the grocery store Aldi.... They have a website so that you can check if you have one near you - HERE IT IS....

Oscar viewing up 6%!!! YEAH....Ya, not so much....

I have seen it everywhere today - Oscar viewing up 6% over last year - but what that doesnt tell you is that it will still be about the 3rd LOWEST viewed Oscar show of all time.

And I bet Hollywood doesnt understand why - They just dont get it...

Let me enlighten you Hollywood, may I? WE DONT CARE ABOUT YOU....

You are performing Monkeys - we dont care what you think - we dont even care IF you can think and my money says you cant....Have you ever heard Cameron Diaz give an interview - I wonder how she learns her lines because I really doubt she is smart enough to read.

Those actors and actresses that do have brains - have gone and finished their education - those that have learned something as opposed to just relying on what they look like or how good they are in bed - really keep their mouths shut. You rarely hear them spouting off to any camera they can find...

You get paid to ACT like something we WANT to see....They could just as easily put in different performing monkey as you, so thank your fairy godmother that its you.

Basically this is it in a nutshell:

Hollywood - Dance, Monkey Dance and shut the hell up....

I dont read anything on these blogs that I do not also hear in some form from Glenn Beck. I view this as our position is taken SERIOUSLY....

There is a wave across this Country where people are starting to get it - GET IT. A CNBC Correspondent is getting it - those on the trading floor with him (and I bet most voted for BHO) are getting it. The Washington Post is getting it.... Texas Representative Jim Demint gets it (he wants us to start demonstrating)....

I felt it today at Walmart - yes, even WALMART.... The can section had been decimated - but in particular the Store brand - national labels were left untouched for the most part. People are feeling that something wicked this way comes and they are stocking up. They are watching their pennies, they are buying staples and pantry items. And buying ammo was a chore - to find something they had left....

People today at the store were slow and Deliberate - not Zombies - they were reading labels, checking prices and very particular about what they put in their cart. Even down to how items were put in their cart. I have been guilty of just tossing stuff in with a indiscriminate attitude. Not today. People PLACED items in there - almost like they would break. It bordered on reverence - a relation to food and what it means that has long been ignored. It was easy to watch as the aisles were not crowded - the store had hushed feel and almost empty feeling....

Our preparing, our talking, our blogging, do not feel that it is in vain. There are difficult times coming - VERY DIFFICULT, but this Country is amazing. Did you know that during the last economic dip, giving actually went up? You remember how much was given overnight to the people destroyed by the Tsunami several years ago? We are AMERICA - We are WE THE PEOPLE and we hold ourselves up as well as lifting those up around us.

We will feed ourselves, we will feed our neighbors, we will eventually feed the world.

We will throw off this Government - BOTH PARTIES - and take back our Country - we will elevate the State - as in the United States - and control our destinies through our local Government. We will read our Founding Fathers not as assigned History, but as recreation, for knowledge, for leadership - we will read them in our Homes - we will spread Freedom through our Schools.

We will look back on this as the worst and the best of America. There will be stories told and retold of sacrifice, of value, of exceptional Americans. Our Nation as we currently know it may be laid bare, but that does mean that America is laid bare. I personally do not believe that the Country I currently live in is America - it is in name only....It certainly has nothing in common with the Constitution under which I am a Citizen - a Patriot.

Do not fear - Do not quit preparing - Do not think that pain and strife will be for nothing - it is a refining - the fire - that makes Gold valuable and Iron strong on the other side. What an America we will be after this walk....

I agree with just about everything. I didnt like the term "Bubba Effect" because I believe it allows too many to dismiss as crackpots or idiots, those that oppose the Government.

I did absolutely Love - ABSOLUTELY LOVE - on the third Scenario, the comment that the guest did not believe the Military would ever fire on American Citizens. He said that more than anyone, the Military love the Constitution and read it every year straight through. I am sure there are those that would fire, but the absoluteness of his belief is comforting as well as fortifying.

Will the CAFO system go belly up?

Below I have copied an email/letter from the Oklahoma Food Coop President. I love this man - he has a vision not only of people feeding themselves, but eating good food. At the root of his love of Oklahoma agriculture is good food....man, I love a man who likes to eat ;)

The email (which I **edited to serve my purpose) discusses the potential collapse of the CAFO system that the majority of Americans feed themselves from. In case you do not know - CAFO stands for Confined Animal Feeding Operations - cattle feedlots, huge bird houses where they sit on top of each other laying eggs...where dead birds are in there after dying of sickness or being pecked to death by another bird...where cows are shot full of antibiotics just to keep them alive long enough to slaughter them....those CAFO's....

The only way that CAFOs will go away is when they are no
longer economically viable. There is not the chance of a
proverbial ice cube in hades that the legislature will enact
meaningful legislation to deal with this problem. We can
fantasize about a day when Harlan Hentges, Shauna Struby, Ed
Kessler, Tom Elmore, Susie Shields, and yours truly are
leaders in the state legislature, but it will actually be
easier to get people to stop eating CAFO meats than to
achieve that electoral miracle.

Also in our favor is the little detail that the economics
are already turning against the CAFO system. There is a lot
of talk in the beef industry about the failure of the
present model. Predictably, the cattleman are losing, but
the new news is that the feedlot system and big packing
industry itself aren't on very stable ground. One of
the dominos that is poised and ready to fall is the
"sudden collapse" of the CAFO system due to the
glaring economic irrationalities of its methods. Don't
say it can't happen, because it can, as easy and as
quickly as the collapse of Lehmans. The cost of inputs is
increasing, financing is almost impossible to find, the
whole system is based on shaving costs to the bone and
running large quantities through the system, and it
doesn't work well when costs don't cooperate and
banks are reluctant or unable to finance.


In the meantime, QUIT BUYING MEAT AT THE SUPERMARKETS.
Every dollar spent at a supermarket meat market is a dollar
that subsidizes the CAFO system. DNA tests of supermarket
hamburger have found as many as 100 different animals in a
five pound block of supermarket hamburger. As many as 5% of the cattle "processed" in the giant slaughterhouses aren't actually dead when they are
skinned. Most of the incoming cattle are sick, the feedlot
conditions are so terrible the feed is supplemented with
dietary antibiotics to keep the animals from dying on them.
They treat their chickens so miserably they have to burn off
their beaks to keep them from pecking themselves to death.

That's what you pay for when you buy supermarket meat
and poultry and eggs and dairy. If you're not going to
buy meat from free-ranging, humanely treated flocks and
herds, then sign up for a vegan diet. Yes, free-ranging
meats cost more. The solution? Eat less meat, and eat the
less expensive meats, or spend less on something else and
spend a little more on meat, dairy, and eggs. I wouldn't trust ground
meat from the supermarket or the franchised fast food
system.

And. . . stock up. Keep your freezer full.

More than a disruption in deliveries, the collapse of the way that just about everyone in America feeds itself would cause a panic in just a few hours. The Administration would never let this industry fail....You know where this train is heading - Its heading towards being propped up by your tax dollars. So now, this Government owns the industries that make your cars, hold your money (dont think for a second that the banking system will not be nationalized - many already are), educate your children, and feed your family. This is Socialism.....when they tell you how many kids you can have, which would be their prerogative under Universal Healthcare, we will be China.

There is an upside - Yes, I can be Miss. Mary Sunshine - The upside is that with the collapse and bailout of the current system, many Outraged, Disgusted Americans will opt out of the system. Where I live, that paradigm shift is happening and it happens more and more each month. I have spoke of it before, the Oklahoma Food Coop. Here we buy meat, cheese, dairy (except Milk), eggs, wheat flour, wheat berries and many other fabulous things.

More and more people opting out of the industrial food system means an opportunity for people with just a few acres of land. You can raise broilers for meat, chickens for eggs, goats for milk.... You will be able to stack enterprises to keep you fed as well as in the green. Stacking enterprises also means that your farm works together - everything you do benefits another part of the enterprises. Start with a couple of cows, move them around your land, followed by chickens. Put pigs underneath trees and they will quickly turn it into beautiful savannas as they turn the earth over with their snouts. Put turkeys in your orchard to eat bugs and clean up dropped fruit....The possibility is almost endless.

Another plus is that you do not work year round. The Creator made a cycle. Its obvious to the world except for humans. We try to twist nature. Its bad for the animals, the land and for us. If we move WITH nature, life becomes easier. Thats not to say you wont be busy, you will work like a dog Spring and Summer....tapering off with the final harvest in the fall. But Winter is to rest. The entire Earth rests in Winter and we should follow suit.

When you work it this way, your farm will not smell, your farm will be green (as in color), your farm will be sustaining as in sustaining your life as well as those around you. You get premium prices for your product - a good, healthy product which tastes better than you can even imagine. We have been lulled to sleep with the tasteless crap put forth in the current food system - lets wake our taste buds up as well as our neighbors. And the farmer will again be given the honor that they are due.

Booker T. Washington is my Homeboy...

Heres a story about one of my kids.... She was little about 4.... We were shopping and a lady was sweet and smiled and gave her a little wave. My daughter turned to me and said "That brown lady waved at me" very pleased with herself because she was waved at by an adult. The lady looked at me kind of like "What did she call me?" I smiled and said "She has never been taught any of the words for different races. I am sorry if what she said offended you." I wasnt really sorry and didnt sound apologetic, neither did I sound arrogant nor antagonistic. The lady chuckled and said that was what she thought she said and that she had never been called "brown" before.



Both of my sons have had same situations happen in their little lives. We talk about shades in our house - and when we all stand near each other, no 2 of us are the same color. My littlest laments that he isnt brown....I have had him wail that he isnt brown, just totally upset. Now, granted this was after a missed nap and if there had been a conversation about a poodle, I am sure he would have wailed and lamented that he wasnt a poodle....



I was born in 1970....I grew up on School House Rock. Its how I learned how a bill becomes law....How I learned the preamble to the Constitution.....How I THOUGHT we were a melting pot.

Look, I get that its in the Democrats' best interest to keep as many people in poverty as they can - to make them think that their only Salvation is through the Government - and I dont think they care what color they are.... But dont people in poverty get tired of it? Really? In this month dedicated for Black History, do those that tout it really LEARN IT?

Hey Holder - Hey Al - Hey you upstanding citizen, Jesse Jackson - Have you read Booker T. Washington lately? Have you? Well, this chick has - I even quote him to my kids - the man was brilliant - not Thomas Jefferson brilliant, but more than Pearls Brilliant:

** If you can't read, it's going to be hard to realize dreams.

** The individual who can do something that the world wants done will, in the end, make his way regardless of his race.

** Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.

** We do not want the men of another color for our brothers-in-law, but we do want them for our brothers.

Long ago I realize that being a Victim is a miserable place to be....To get your self-worth, your "feel-goods" depended on whether someone noticed you, did something for you, cooed and soothed you.

Happiness is a CHOICE. It is not dependent on outward circumstances but inward disposition. Forgiveness runs a parallel race. I forgive not because it frees the offender, but because it frees me. I refuse to let someone determine how I feel. I refuse to let someone have that much power over me.

Our new Attorney General called Americans COWARDS. Dont be confused. His comments were not in any way meant to bring 2 "colors" together. His comments were to incite Black and to guilt White. His position may be a little loftier, but he plays the same game as Al Sharpton. To keep himself in his "position" he continues to hold others down.

One man cannot hold another man down in the ditch without remaining down in the ditch with him.

Of course, according to Booker T. Washington, Al's position is in the ditch.

I am done with guilt. Let guilt go a long time ago... I try my hardest to judge a man according to his character and not the color of his skin (MLK) How about Holder, you start to read and practice a little Booker T and MLK? Think this Country might be better for it? Or could it mean that you would be out of a job.....

I contend that the biggest fear of men like Holder, Sharpton, Jackson isnt "The Man", its that those they OPPRESS (and dont be fooled, they do oppress) will realize THEY hold the power and not these men....Thats a revolution I would LOVE to see....and would even throw in with.....

Commentary - Part 2

This is the second part of yesterday's post....Google seemed to think that my post needed editing - stupid Google...so sorry about all the space in between the paragraphs :)

5. Move your stocks

I dont have much to add except - DUH....

4. Learn a useful trade

All you bankers, stock brokers and car salesmen - you need to learn how to weld. You need to learn how to work with your hands...look up the Vo-tech in your area right now and take a few classes at night. Buy the tools, equipment, machinery that is needed. Start practicing around your house - learn how to fix things... Buy manuals, how-to books and a new education - do it now while you can still afford it and while you can still get into a class...

3. Store up food

Store up enough to ensure that you will be able to eat until you can grow some more - in fact store up more just in case your crop has issues. Learn how to eat different foods now - teach your children to eat different foods - save recipes that will be used on foods out of your pantry. There is a great amount of peace when you look at a pantry running over. Learn how to hunt, clean a kill, wring a chicken's neck, pull feathers, eviscerate, dress and cook. Learn how to hatch eggs - learn everything from start to finish....

2. Relocate and/or by an RV

The fact that there are any people still living in Ohio is almost beyond me....not all of Ohio, but anywhere near Detroit. Employers arent falling over themselves to throw jobs at people's feet, but I see signs and hear advertisements daily about places that are still hiring in my area. MOVE THERE... Take extended family with you if you need and if they will go. Extended families have a head start in regards to survival. Many hands make light work - more men - more women - working towards a common goal. Blessings beyond tangibles will be yours and your kids if your extended family is in the picture.

Sorry - got off topic - back to the RV part.... On the surface, you may question the purchase of an RV if you are in such dire straights, but we arent talking about a million dollar diesel pusher - we are talking about a used bumper-pull or a 5th wheel if you have a truck. It will keep your family dry, warm and infinitely safer than being homeless or sleeping in your car. It will give you a place to get clean which is important as you search for work. It makes you mobile and able to follow work and avail yourself of opportunities as they present themselves.

1. Buy firearms

Protection - Food - Protection - Food - Protection

Learn how to use it - buy plenty of ammunition, otherwise its just a really expensive rock.

I have a real problem with the post's bonus.... I understand if you are afraid you wont be able to feed your family and such, but by the time you really are afraid of that, do your credit cards still work? In a total break down of the system, do credit cards work? Doing as the post suggests makes someone not any better than those bastards in Washington who are spending taxpayer monies. When you buy on credit, you give your word you will pay it back - its a contract - almost a handshake deal - dont break your word. You are more honorable than that - you are a Patriot - you are an American - you ARE We The People.

So - the second day, not as good as the first....was not near as inspired - sorry.... I will flog myself this evening and have something prepared for tomorrow ;) Happy Hump Day - enjoy...

I have a large list of blogs that I read - I love you guys, I really do....In fact, it annoys me - REALLY ANNOYS ME - when I have read everything and have to wait for one of you to update :) So be getting on that....





Anyway, every now and then I save a link to a post in my folder - I have a bunch of them but my favorite Favorites folder is named "Apocalypse". Its my survival stuff... I have gardening folders, house folders, farm folders and everything else, but the Apocalypse folder is my fave. "Apocalypse" is what my family affectionately calls what we expect to be forthcoming with this Country and this Government. The Hubs has strict orders not to call it this outside our home - it mortifies our daughter and it does make us look a little insane....

The post is about 10 things you can do to prepare for an upcoming Depression - DEPRESSION with a CAPITAL "D". I read it periodically just as a benchmark on how I think I am doing and how I am emotionally prepared....





I think it also could use a little commentary from Moi....So here it is.... Please read the original post because I am not going to copy/paste the entire thing - just going to paraphrase and make my comments.... Today is the bottom 5 with the top 5 coming tomorrow....





10 - Get to know your neighbors...





I dont know about where you live, but here, we have a website where we can look up property owners by address, name, section number, you name it.... Its great when YOU are the one looking up the information, not so hot when you imagine people looking you up or your property. So, put your property in a trust that doesnt list your names....



But - I used this program to look up my neighbors. Dont just know their names, but drive by their land/house. You can gauge a bit of information about them....I have a couple of neighbors who built their houses into a hill so they basically mow their roof. One has a wind turbine and has been there for years, so he isnt a "Greenie" but probably a survivalist. I know who raises what kinds of animals, who grows what for market, who can fix cars and who may be liberty minded with the flags they fly and the names they name their roads - I pass Liberty Road on one of the ways to our land.



Emotionally, neighbors will keep you from feeling like its you against the world....



9. Buy Metal



Of course, buy Gold and Silver - use Gold to maintain your wealth and buy Silver for the possibility of use as barter, buy and trade. If you want to know where I stand, you can check out my comments on Gold/Silver to the right...


I also think you should save scrap metal.... In an absolutely total collapse, this stuff will be hard to get and expensive. You might need to affix to your house to cover the windows, roof a structure, weld or mend equipment.



If you are going to keep scrap metal, learn how to weld - WELD - and have the equipment to do so. This skill and this equipment could make you very popular in a breakdown scenario.



8. Stockpile Drugs



If you take something regularly, SAVE A TON OF IT... As Companies look for ways to save money, do not be surprised if your medication becomes unavailable or even removed from their product lines.


I could also see a scenario where anti-depressant drugs become even more popular than they are now....Especially when the populace realizes the dire situation this Country finds itself in.



7. Save Money



NOW - DO IT NOW - dont spend it unless you have to - unless it has value - unless it will serve you in the future....you MUST have a reason besides "I want it...."



Just about every company is posting losses - unless you sell Guns and Prepper items....and unless you are Netflix. NETFLIX is growing because people have cut back on their outside entertainment. Good for them - but I say do yourself one better. We buy movies. I never did before, but got in the habit when my FRUGAL Grandmother bought her movies instead of renting. She was on a fixed income and did such an amazing job handling her small resources that she took off, rented a flat and spent about 6 weeks in London one year - the woman knew how to make a buck stretch like no one I have known....so I decided to do what she did.

I bought my movies, not renting a flat in London, although running away looks awfully good sometimes....but I digress..... Nope, not the brand new releases and NO, I do not pay $21.99 for the current, hot item.... Walmart has a rack they sell movies for $5.00. They have a rack where they sell them for $7.50 and some of those movies are double features. They have recently started selling some for $4.00. I refuse to pay more than $5.00 for a movie and often get them much cheaper. Target has caught on and sell a line of movies also for $5.00 but have been putting them on sale for $4.75 recently. I also buy from Hollywood Video when they put their pre-viewed movies on sale. I buy from Hollywood and NOT Blockbuster because Hollywood guarantees their movies as long as you keep the receipt. I have a folder that I put the receipt in and I have had to take back only 1 movie since I began this endeavor. And they were very nice, giving me a new movie with out any hassle - NEW Movie and not another pre-viewed....

I am the kind of person who can enjoy a movie over and over....My husband thought he wasnt and when I pull something out to watch will usually make a face. Funny thing is, within about 3 minutes of the movie's start, he has put the computer down and is fully engaged in the flick... He is such a sucker for Mad Max ;)

Of course, your movie stash should only be started once your basics are bought and stored....Beans, Bullets, Bandaids and Antonio Banderas :)

Look for creative ways to save money, get your entertainment, spend time with your family. It will pay dividends more than mere bucks!

6. Get rid of debt

If you have debt - except for maybe your house - you shouldnt be buying movies - you shouldnt be buying anything unless it fills your stomach and covers your butt. You can weather just about anything when you dont have bills. Get a second or third job, chicks - go back to work for a bit, sell damn near everything, but pay it off....

It isnt shameful to sell belongings to pay debt, its FREEING and its liberating and it makes you more flexible to adapt to upcoming changes or available to take advantage of opportunities. Who cares what the neighbors think - when you are debt free, you will be the envy of the neighborhood - you may be the only one who can ride this out in your neighborhood - I am not being dramatic, but want you to realize the absolute IMPORTANCE of not hanging onto debt....How many years do you want to pay for that Taco Bell you charged when you were in college?

Monday - Coupon Day :)

Ok - first, I wasted a buck and a half yesterday when I bought my paper because there were no coupons in it.....I dont know why coupon supplier people think they get to take the day BEFORE a holiday off, but they do....I almost drove back to the front of our subdivision and gave them the paper back and expected a full refund.....But with my truck, I probably would have burned more than that in diesel - so consider the newspaper compost...

YEAH BABY....I now have a full years worth of cake mixes, so I will just cross that off my list ;) I am bearing down on the amount of processed cereal I "need" for a year....

My daughter went with me and when we got in the car I asked her what she thought. Her comment was "You got a lot of crap.....really cheap...." YES......I......DID......and I bought some veggies too....

So far it does seem like there is a lot of crap - but cans of soup and veggies have not been on sale yet. I was looking through my coupons and will clean house when they do. Pastas and sauce have not been on sale either.... I am giving this at least 2 months and then I will re-evaluate my time and expense. So far, the time hasnt been that great - its really easy to sit and watch my favorite show and clip the coupons, put them in the right slot and throw the trash away - really easy....

The shopping time hasnt been bad either. I am getting quicker each time as I become more familiar with the layout of the store.

On a totally unrelated note except that it just popped into my head - I was asked to sub again tomorrow. I am doing it because I get $50 each time I do and if yall have forgotten, we are building a house and this money will buy shelving for my pantry or curtains or quite a bit of wine after being with someone else's kids all day ;) All that to say, I have some posts brewing in my head, but I may not be able to explode them onto to the computer until Wednesday.... but we will see....

If I tell you I would have to shoot you....

To tell or not to tell someone to Prep? That is the question....

I tell - obviously - but I know quite a few that dont. I can understand wanting to keep a lot of what you accumulate secret - but you cant get those around you to prep by not admitting that you do it too. I mean, really, how stupid does it sound to say "You should prep" - "Do you?" - "No, but you should.".....

I am safer if those that would naturally come to me in a crisis prep also - it alleviates some of the pressure on me.

However - if the response is a "I'll just come to you if anything happens" then you need to be ready to answer...

My pat answer is "You may not be able to get to me so you better look out for your own family. Besides, I dont want to have to shoot you." I smile and chuckle when I say the last part. But it makes the impression I intend which is that I fully intend to protect and provide for MY family, PERIOD.

This is not to say that I tell EVERYTHING....a girl has to have an air of mystery about her to keep the interest there, but I tell them enough to get them started and where to go for information.

Who knew?

I liked teaching - I liked 5th Graders - I did a good job!

I have spent the last couple of days filling in for 2 teachers at my kids' school. 5th grade to be exact - I taught Science one day and History the next....poor kids - didnt know what they were getting...

The topic in History was the 1920's - by the end of the 1920's 3 out of 4 Americans had a car....one little hand shot up and out comes "so is this where Global Warming started...." I had ignored a couple Global comments in the 2 days, but not this one.

So we had a time out. I asked if they are taught about Global Warming and they said No (its a Christian School and the stance is pretty much this is God's world - He made it and they ignore topics of Global Warming as best they can - I guess....) But I dont....

So we had a Come To Jesus meeting about Global Warming (heretofore referred to as GW). I asked them who they hear the most about in regards to GW. No surprise, but Al Gore. I then asked them if they knew what Carbon Credits were to offset Carbon use. Some did and some did not. I then told them about companies who sell "credits" and then supposedly plant trees to take out the Carbon Dioxide in the air. They all thought that was a GREAT idea. Poor, gullible kids....

I then told them that the main company that does this is in England and that Al Gore is an owner. They immediately saw the conflict of interest although they voiced it as "that doesnt seem fair." No it does not. I told them that when they are told anything - even from me - it is THEIR JOB to check out what they are told - verify it - before they believe it.

It was also nice to be able to say that the Carbon Dioxide levels in the world have NEVER BEEN HIGHER, but that the Earth's temperature has cooled for 8 straight years. I then threw in that it was pretty arrogant to think that in a matter of a few years, we could so drastically alter what God has made and when we believed such, we put ourselves above Him.

That was pretty much the end of the discussion. It was nice to strike a blow for Common Sense and against the Nazi Tree Huggers. It may be short lived - these kids are hit with so much information, but still.... Its always nice to convince someone of something sometimes :)

If you squint real hard, you cant tell us apart...

Me and Benjamin Franklin, that is....

We are the same, he and me....

I see myself (and by extension all you fab bloggers out there) as modern day Pamphleteers. We write our letters, our tirades, our persuasion down and send it out to the masses. We no longer stand on street corners and yell, or send children to sell our papers, but we put it out there nonetheless.

We raise the consciousness of those around us by engaging in humor, debate, facts and the occasional fear mongering. I am not above scaring the crap out of those that I love to get them to see where this Country is going and to be prepared. Now, I am not sure Ole Ben would use the word "crap", but then, he very well may have...

I know it seems like its getting all hot and bothered without the payoff, but dont underestimate the power of our words or the passion they evoke. How many years did Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine publish their words before action was taken? How many years were the same cries of oppression ignored by so many of the populace?

Dont ever think that your words fall on deaf ears - that not enough hear and take heed to the warnings. If this were true, we would be Loyalists to this day....If this were true, 180 that died in the Alamo would have died in vain.

But we drink Coffee here - not prissy tea.... We worship the Marlboro man, John Wayne, Charleton Heston, Clint Eastwood and all those Die Hard movies.... There is a reason they dont film Merchant Ivory movies in America.

We are Patriots - I contend that more are than arent. I contend that those of us who get frustrated are not alone - Its exhausting to feel you ring a bell - a warning bell - as those around you either do not hear or choose to ignore...

I am tired and I am frustrated. I am angry and I am royally pissed off....I will however, never quit. I may take time to refresh my spirit, but I will never quit. How could I when 56 men signed their lives and their fortunes away with the Declaration of Independence.... They risked everything for the POSSIBILITY of Freedom - they gambled everything for a chance of LIBERTY.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Natural Law and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

This is the first part of the Declaration of Independence....There is a reason that children arent expected to memorize it anymore....Its dangerous. It is POWERFUL....

After reading those words, dont ever for a minute think that you are a mere blogger and that your words carry no weight or measure. These words, your words, our words, have thrown off oppression in the form of Great Britain and they will surely throw off those that currently oppress.

We are WE THE PEOPLE.....

Back to the Good Ole Days....

Yup - you read it right - thats where I think this is heading....

Pearls, you say, I usually think you are brilliant, but you have dropped the ball on this one....

I understand - but follow me here, and stay close because this rabbit hole is long and dark ;)

Anyway - taxes, health care, education, food, fuel....opression....the Government is about to tip its hand and over stretch. They already have. They have spent every last dime for a couple generations....You cant get blood out of a turnip, they can try, but they just cant....

How are we going to live, Pearls?

We live local. Yup - we will go local. People will begin to buy local - barter - trade....

People will grow their own food. Its quality and control left in local hands will actually ensure a healthier product and a more accountable grower. Integrity will be restored to a noble profession when the farmer is held in such high esteem for feeding his neighbors and local schools. Here in OK, local farmers have started supporting local schools which does wonders for kids and gives the farmer another outlet for their product.

Speaking of schools - have you heard that the Homeschool movement isnt so much a movement anymore as mainstream? Yup - in certain circles I run in, my kids are the exception - and not because they are in Private School as opposed to Government Schools, but because they are IN school period and not home with me (and thats not to say, I would be opposed to it or it may not happen soon....)

People will make their own fuel to an extent - more local power company co-ops - people using solar power to supplement the grid, sell it back or just to leave the grid entirely. People using biofuels to power homes partly through generators, fuel their cars or their equipment.

I even predict that they will deal more directly with their local doctor. They may have "insurance" for the big things - but for little stuff, just pay out of pocket. I cant believe that the AMA is happy about this "Universal Healthcare" thing. I dont think I could fill 1 hand with doctors that take Medicare here in this town. No one wants to deal with them.... I for one, will NEVER agree to put my records in the care of the Government or one of their minions....

I dont think any one person will be able to provide for all their needs, but local communities will learn how to go back to the way it used to be when a thankful person paid the local doctor with eggs and fresh chicken or even a side of beef. When a rancher with a small/portable saw mill provided his local grocer with enough wood to heat his house for the winter in exchange for certain groceries. When I figure out what You need that I can provide and what You provide that I need....

When the Government becomes so oppressive, communities and hopefully, ultimately, States will remove the Government from the equation - guess the in vogue term is "Going Underground".

And if going underground means the return of a Man's Word and the Handshake deal - I am all for it...

Up yours Mr. Government....

Too Civilized?

Does the Government think we are too civilized to revolt? Do they think we will just take it and take it?

I think this is one of the most dangerous misjudgements they could make. When I think of CIVILIZED, I think of those men that were GENTLEMEN, who wrote our Constitution....Who took to duels.....Who had tea.....

They revolted.... They put their money, their fortunes, their families and their lives on the line for this Country.

If there is one thing I have learned, this country is FILLED with people who are animals....we have seen them in L.A., in New Orleans....hell, in New Jersey at an after Thanksgiving Sale....

They "revolted" for the lowest reasons - how noble would a revolt for Liberty be?

Government better not be counting on our Civility to keep them in power because I am starting to see the Tree of Liberty getting thirsty.... (thats a Thomas Jefferson reference.)

**this is a quickie rant in response to the little tirade the "President" had last night on the TV and that crap that those jerks in the Senate passed today....

When you wish it was 8 degrees with a North wind....

We went to a farm auction this weekend.... A couple had several parcels of land as well as a TON of farm equipment, tools, and stuff to sell. They had built a beautiful new home and now were done with farming - retiring.

There was just about everything you could imagine, tons of tractors, generators, 4 wheelers, trailers, bull dozier, an RV, trucks, welding equipment, tools, you name it....the list just went on and on.

The auction for the "stuff" started at 10:00 a.m. and the land was to be auctioned off later in the day. My family, my brother's family and my father all were there and we all had eyes on different things - stuff to handle livestock, a metal wagon ( not a trailer, but 4 tired wagon), ATVs, generator....just a bunch of stuff.

This wasnt our first auction by a long shot - we have bought new and we have bought used - we know what to pay for what....

The ATVs - one went for RETAIL and the other one went for just below retail and it needed a new starter.

This was just an example that people are still nuts. Granted it was a beautiful day and many people were there just enjoying and probably got caught up in the moment, but I would have LOVED to hear the farmboy explaining his $5000 USED ATV to the wife.... I hope he bought the RV, because I bet he will need to be sleeping in it for a bit.

When I heard the generator get to "12" (as in $12,000), I tuned him out....

What we got, we got cheap and in GREAT condition, but we didnt go home with everything we would have liked....we will continue to visit auctions and Craigslist to get items for the farm.

We'll be in the Hudson....

Its been a month, but I still cant get Sully out of my head....

You know who I am talking about - the Pilot who landed his plane in the Hudson and DIDNT LOSE ONE SINGLE PERSON...

I heard he hit water because it would have probably killed him and his co-pilot, but everyone else would have been OK, but he landed it perfectly. Those tapes - if you werent really listening, would have just sounded like every day chatter...He was so calm...

If it were me - It would have probably included some screaming along with something along the lines of "F-in birds...." right before the whole thing burst into flames - thus the reason I am not a pilot ;)

Anyway - what I have been mulling over is that even though Sully put it down as perfectly as humanly possible, it was those FERRY BOATS, those 1st responders, who made such a HUGE difference.

The boats got to that plane as fast as possible. There wasnt any standing around, there wasnt any calling in to see who was going to go, there wasnt any time wasted. If they had a boat and they saw the plane go down, they headed right for it. Those boats should also be given credit for not losing a single person. WHY WERE THEY SO GOOD?

I contend they were so good because of 9/11. People in New York can handle a crisis. They have learned to go towards those that need help instead of standing around and watching or running the other direction. They had their trial by fire and they have been refined.

The same thing in Israel. Its citizens are the first line of defense. There arent backpacks or cases or packages left unattended in Israel without someone spotting it IMMEDIATELY - within seconds. They know that unattended packages explode. They immediately start yelling "UNATTENDED PACKAGE (or whatever)" and people quickly move away....They know what they are doing....

I think they know what they are doing because their Government doesnt sugar coat things....It doesnt treat its Citizens as idiots who need to be taken care of....

I contend that if our Government told us the truth - how precarious our situation is (or isnt) it would have a profound affect of us Citizens. It would make the average American a Patriot - it would give us the power to take responsibility for our safety and welfare.

Unfortunately for us, the Government doesnt see us as capable, but rather incapable....It is up to us to wake up those around us - it is up to us to ensure our own safety. That is one reason I read the Homeland Security website. I get the updates daily and you start to see things pretty clear. We are in dangerous times.

I fear we will not even begin to rival Israel in regards to taking responsibility for our safety until we have been through the fire a few more times. More than NYC and 9/11 we will have to be attacked a few more times before we condition OURSELVES to take care of ourselves.

The Government better fear when we do start to take care of ourselves - when we Citizens start to become the first line of defense because once we are there - then we will go on the offense and the first thing we will do is get rid of those that are either patronizing or those that treat us with such contempt and disrespect. Be afraid Washington, be very afraid.

Civics Class and how it leads to Family Game Night.....

My oldest is taking Civics this semester. I took it as a Senior, but she is taking it as a Freshman. I like how she is doing it better. Civics is how ALOT of kids learn about how our Government works and taking it as a Senior, when thoughts of Graduation and Parties are on their mind, Civics gets a back seat....who am I kidding, Civics doesnt even get to get on the bus.... My Freshman child is taking is seriously. Seriously. SERIOUSLY.

That may have ALOT to do with who her parents are - Patriots - but I also think its because being so new in High School, all subjects are taken seriously. She doesnt have the jadedness that comes when you realize what class is important and what isnt - what class you are going to have to work on and which you can skate.

But her parents are Patriots. We eat dinner together just about EVERY NIGHT....6 out of 7 and at the least, 4/5 out of 7 (and this is rare). We discuss the Government - we discuss our Family Plans - we discuss the Constitution and her Amendments - we discuss the day's news. We will not raise uninformed kids. We will raise who can think for themselves, who can reason for themselves, who can defend their point of view while being able to see alternate points of view with respect. They will be able to reason why other points of view are relevant or not and express themselves accordingly.

We also play games - ALOT of games. In fact, we rush through dinner and I get a TON of help cleaning it up because we dont get to get out the games until the kitchen table is cleared off and the kitchen is clean.

The new family favorite is a game modeled after the book - A Dangerous Book for Boys. You move around a board having to compete in group activities - answer questions regarding History and what really amounts to Preparedness. You learn knots, Distress Flags, and what they call "Mental Agility," while trying to collect raft pieces to get off this island. Its a great game based on an even GREATER book....

If you have munchkins, check this game out. It took me a bit to learn how to play and we constantly refer back to the instructions because the game proceeds in regards to which cards you draw, so each game is different, with a different focus and some are hard. But it puts kids in a "Survival" mode during play with fun and friendly competition....

And no - I get nothing from the makers of this game, I dont sell the game...I am just a player - Plaaayah.....

Seeds, that is, not the kids ;) I got my box from Johnny's Seeds yesterday.


The Hubs has been amazing sketching out the plan - measuring the area and then drawing it on graph paper. I will post a pic when I get the scanner working.....


Anyway, I have never ordered seeds before online. I have bought plants at big box stores, but nothing from "scratch". I was really nervous about how much it would cost because loading up on plants at the Box Store can get you into the hundreds pretty fast! So, I figured I would just put in my entire order - everything I could want and then check the total and I planned to adjust accordingly. There wasnt any need - I was under a hundred bucks!! Although, when I got the box, I thought it was kind of small for spending $100 ;)

I couldnt believe it - I had been saving here and there just to make sure I didnt have to take monies from our account....but I have some left over! I am not entirely done with my ordering. I have to order one more batch from another company to ensure that we get corn that isnt a hybrid or genetically altered (people, quit screwing around with corn), but it shouldnt be much at all.

Is anyone out there having a garden? Anything I should know or something you learned the hard way you are willing to tell me so I can just skate?

Zombies....Really?

Ok - so there was an awesome post over at TSLRF about Worse Case Scenarios....

The Comments are the best part - but Zombies came up. Now, I have been reading the Survival blogs for a while and Zombies keep popping up - no pun intended....

My question is this - Are yall serious - blood sucking, Dawn of the Living Dead, turn you into a Zombie if I bite you, kind of Zombie?

Or are yall kidding like Shaun of the Dead Zombies?

Did this Zombie thing really take hold with the Will Smith movie, I am Legend, or has it been floating longer than 2007?

Now - I have used the word before in my blog, but I am kidding.....if there are some of you out there that are SERIOUS - S.E.R.I.O.U.S. - let me know and let me know why you think I may have learn how to use a flame thrower or however you kill those suckers.... Actually, how do you kill them...

Passing on some LOVE....

Found this Very. Cool. Chick. and since We both love this State and obviously Guns and Freedom, not to mention we share a wickedly brilliant writing style, decided I needed to share her with the rest of yall....

Over all percentage of savings: 50%







Now - $10.00 of that was butter that I didnt have a coupon for, but was on sale and cheaper than anywhere else and so I bought and put in the freezer. If you remove that $10.00 from my total would be around $14.00 - it would have reduced my tax and would have reduced the Card Savings to $7.29 which would have made my over all percentage would have been 77% (If my math is right ;)

Hows that? I am pretty pleased....

Where I am putting the items:

Food Storage: Sugar, Mac n Cz, Au Gratin, Cake Mix, Fiber Bars and Butter to the Freezer.

The other stuff is to be eaten now.

I will be going back on Monday with my mom and I will have my new Sunday coupons, so we will see if I can do better.

This was fun and I can see how it can become "addictive" in that I will try to beat my last "score" or if I see it as a Me vs. The Store kind of thing....

My name is Pearls, and I am a State Snob....

Yup - its confession time....I am a State Snob....



I was raised in Texas - thought the ENTIRE COUNTRY had Texas History in 7th grade - thought this until I was in college....sad, but true.....



I certainly didnt think there was another state out there as glorious as Texas....not even a little bit....Oh yeah, those original 13 Colonies had a nice story and all, the birth of the United States of America and all, but were they their own country? I dont think so - not a Republic all to themselves.... Did they have the Alamo where a 180 men (give or take a couple) fought off over 4000 (give or take a few) Mexican Soldiers and held them off for 13 days? Did they have a double agent prostitute that sold out the Mexican General to the A.W.E.S.O.M.E. General Sam Houston? Did they have a town make their own flag DARING - actually, TRIPLE DOUBLE DOG DARING the Mexicans to come and TRY and take back a cannon? Nope....



So, yes, I WAS a State Snob. I say WAS because today, I recognize a few other GREAT STATES....



I introduce you to New Hampshire. The Live Free or Die State.... They are living up to their motto now... On a great note - look at the top line with the date - they use the phrase "in the year of our Lord." JUST AWESOME.....



I introduce you to Washington State. They are not all tree huggers up there - or maybe they are, but they love their Country and they know their Constitution.



I introduce you to Arizona. They are tired of this border state getting run over and told what to do...



I introduce you to Missouri. They are declaring that they dont want to be told what to do in regards to Obama's Abortion policy.



And last, but not least, my current home state of Oklahoma.



In regards to Oklahoma - I have been hard on her. Really hard... I have seen her as "left over" land that people basically became stuck in when they couldnt make it in a "real" state or stopped on their way to California. I have hated her red dirt, step-child status among states and I have hated that she doesnt have the history of the state that I love, Texas.



Oklahoma, I am sorry. I really am. I have been trying hard for the past few years to fall in love with you. You see, I married and now will be living here probably for the rest of my life. All of my kids were born here and that was hard... I feel like this was an arranged marriage, you and me and that my job was just to be nice. But I fell in love with you. I have fallen in love with the Mother Road, Rt. 66... I have fallen in love with the dome that was put on your Capital and how the lights shine on the Indian standing on the top. I have fallen in love with little things like Eischen's Fried Chicken, Fried Pies, the many dinners along rural roads. I have fallen in love with the farmers and ranchers who wave from their Red Dirt covered trucks. I have fallen in love with your Heritage Markers on the side of the road. And I LOVE YOUR ZOO - its really, really great. I think it even beat out the Fort Worth Zoo in a contest...



All that to say, I really, really am sorry for badmouthing you. You are a great State. You understand freedom - you understand the 2nd Amendment. You have an AWESOME Senator - Mr. Inhofe and he rocks! You have an all Republican House and Senate for the first time ever and you are trying to do away with taxes on Guns, Groceries, Income... And now, you have passed a statement to the Government reminding of the 10th Amendment. DARING it to cross CONTRARY TO THE CONSTITUTION....Telling it how WRONG the Feds have been....



I am so proud of you. And not just you, Oklahoma - but all of you 5. I know they are just words on paper, but its the first step. If the Federal Government continues to mistreat you, may you 5 put some bite in your words. May you tell the Gov't to shove it - to take a flying leap - to kiss your Seceding Republic butts goodbye....



Oklahoma - continue to cling to your God and your Guns - I will back you up...after all, you are home!

Coupons....

Now - I have used coupons off and on for years - but it just didnt work out. It seemed like a WHOLE LOT OF WORK for 35 cents on something I wouldnt normally use - so I quit...

UNTIL NOW.... I am giving it another try....

We have a grocery store in our area that doubles coupons up to a $1.00 - so thats $2.00 OFF! I dont shop here because groceries are expensive. Well, I will be shopping there now... I have been cutting out the coupons for a couple weeks now - out of the newspaper - online: www.SmartSource.com (You can print all coupons twice) - out of magazines....

On Wednesdays, the ad comes out to start on Thursday.... You take your coupons and match them up to the circular - thats it....Dont buy anything else at this store - just buy what you get cheap.

There are also a few tricks. Just because the coupons says you have to buy a certain thing, you dont - the company will honor the coupon on ANY item made by the company.

I also learned that Grocery Stores have a "schedule" of when they put things on sale. Other tricks can be found at www.GroceryGame.com - ** Its a pay service (not much) but I wanted to let you know - I also want you to know I dont get anything from them and do not use them. They dont cover my grocery store for my area, but I WILL USE THEM when they cover my grocery store. Also, you can get quite a bit of information before you have to sign up and they have a free 2 week trial...just FYI....

Back to the schedule - that means that when you learn your grocery store's schedule, you can maximize your savings.

I am going to give this a try - I will keep you posted on my success. If this starts to cost me more in terms of my budget than I spend on groceries normally, I am done. I also dont want to stock up on a bunch of crap that doesnt really deepen my pantry. I am all for some comfort foods, but I draw the line at crap - stuff that turn my kids' tongues blue or changes colors is off the list!

Supposedly you are also not to use a check out lane with a middle-aged, white woman - guess they are a hardass....pick a kid that just doesnt care. My grocery store that doubles coupons actually has self-check out lanes. I like this because I am faster than the regular lane. And no, my grocery store isnt a Walmart - YIPPEE.....otherwise it would take forever!

I will keep you posted and post some pics of my receipt and my coupon holder (which I love).... I know you are really interested in seeing that ;)

How 'bout it going down like this....

I had a thought this morning - scary, I know...

I was thinking about California and that they have now suspended payment of refunds that are owed by the State to its citizens....Sucks to be in California....

Anyway - If I were in charge of a state that was going down the tubes and couldnt pay my bills, it would be real, REAL tempting to see the taxes that are going to Washington and be jealous. REALLY JEALOUS - I mean, we are talking California here. Liberals here - where "Wealth Envy" reigns supreme - or at least as an attempt to tax "the rich" and buy votes with the proceeds....

Here is where I get off chasing a rabbit...What if - WHAT IF - a State that is hitting hard times AND cant stand those in Washington decides to have its Citizens send NO TAX MONEY to Washington and only 1/2 to the State? That means that all of a sudden, those in the state just got a raise. It means that the State has now basically SECEDED from the Union - or at least SECEDED from Washington.

I bet that State's government just JUMPED double digits in its popularity.

Now - for the down side...What would Washington do? I have no idea. It would try to get its money, I am sure. It would try to bypass the State Government and go directly to the citizen, threatening to jail and confiscate all their possessions. It would take the State to protect its Citizens. It would take the Texas Rangers to protect Texas....It would take local Government to call up its Citizen Army to protect.

I have always figured Revolution would come through a Tax Revolt. Its not that people are greedy - we arent. Its that when you tax our money, you are taxing our TIME - you are taxing our FREEDOM. With this scenario, you get a Tax Revolt coupled with States' Rights.

I bet if one State stood up to Washington and told them to SHOVE IT - it wouldnt take other States long to follow suit. Of course, we know that this isnt going to start with California. It will start with a State who is hurting but also understands what this Country began as and what it SHOULD be...It would start in a "Red" State.
