We are not in the Great depression. We aren't even as bad as we were in the 70s. This is more akin to the 80s right now. And yes, it probably will get worse, but I highly doubt it will get to the 30s level. Although if anyone can do it, it's the Messiah.

I have been stock piling. We have lots of batteries. We have a generator. We could probably live without power for weeks, if not months.

But I just don't see the entire system collapsing in some sort of Armageddon style catastrophe.

I just think most of the advice is sound regardless of the times we live. Everyone should be responsible for themselves.

I'd also add that if things do get hideous, guns WILL be necessary to fend off looters and those who did not prepare (not that I wouldn't willing share, but don't try to take anything by force or else!).CastoCreationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13634631986152757174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4789551681702149486.post-81448929610479336942009-02-19T17:13:00.000-06:002009-02-19T17:13:00.000-06:00I think I'm gonna agree with Michael here... If the system breaks down, why in the world would I want to trade you a *good* for a rock? I have beef/milk/whatever and you want to trade me a piece of metal for it? Sure, it's a cool piece of metal, but until the system comes back online, it is perfectly worthless to me.

I wasn't gonna mention anything about Detroit/Ohio. . .Ohio is kinda sorta close to Detroit, so I just left it alone. :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4789551681702149486.post-16767822421983452102009-02-19T09:28:00.000-06:002009-02-19T09:28:00.000-06:00I know a fellow who lives in a nice trailer down i...I know a fellow who lives in a nice trailer down in Florida, but he has a great truck/travel trailer combination in reserve. I have skills with my hands and I find all sorts of reasons to practice.

As for the credit cards, I highly recommend Dave Ramsey as he gives ways to pay off your debt and to stay out of it so that if this ever happens no one can put liens on your property or belongings.

Good Job!FarmerGeekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04274846096761160244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4789551681702149486.post-19272143635103616672009-02-19T07:04:00.000-06:002009-02-19T07:04:00.000-06:00Staying Alive - this is about bottom of the heap, ...Staying Alive - this is about bottom of the heap, survival in a Depression. An RV just makes you a highclass refugee. Land ownership makes you a stable citizen in the eyes of the powers that be.

MichaelStaying Alivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12833293437407206880noreply@blogger.com
