Integrity

My dad used to say, dont say anything you wouldnt sign your name to - Its sage advice. It has kept me from saying something that would have felt really, REALLY, R.E.A.L.L.Y. good at the time, but I probably would have regretted later.

I have been thinking about this for a while. When things change in this Country - when the Global companies cease to be global and people do not know who to trust - they will go local. They will borrow from the local bank - they will buy their lumber from the local yard - they will get their livestock feed from the local farm and grain. People will have store accounts where the person writes it on a little card - like it used to be. Someone's word will mean more than it ever has....

Honesty, Trust and Integrity will again be a marker of a man's success and not the neighborhood he lives in or the car that he drives.

To that end - I have never posted anything Anonymous. Its cowardly and its really immature. Well....let me take that back - I have seen posts where someone is brutally honest about themselves and to put ones name would have just added to the pain. But I dont have the kind of blog which brings out the personal confessions..... I have also seen posts where someone is telling something sensitive that could be considered OPSEC..... I dont have that kind of blog either....

But the thing is - nothing is Anon. Nope - so, all the trolls out there, there is a program out there that will let me see the IP addresses, tells me where you are, Who you are....

I havent pulled the plug on Anon. posts. I havent looked anyone up - yet! People have the freedom to say what they want - even if its stupid and immature. But there may come a time when I do not allow Anon posts.... People will have to man up in order to say something rude - but I doubt many will. They will just scurry for the corners, kind of like flicking on the light and watching the roaches scramble for darkness....

Hey!

Your Dad sounds like a good guy!

I don't allow anon posts because they were AlWAYS trolls. So I had to go to moderated.

I really find that these people are very sad. Who has time for that?

Anyhoo, back to prepping :)

I've found your posts interesting, thought provoking and even inspiring. I've always enjoyed my visits here. Keep up the good work.

Pearls,
Sorry for posting this twice,I posted to the wrong thread last timne.Anon is good opsec for some of us trolls.Yes I admit I'm a paranoid troll but we are not all bad hats so you don't want to dump us all in the same bucket.I troll most of the good blogs and I count yours among them. You can find a person's ISP and a regional location from their ip and unless they have a commercial account and a domain associated with the ip that is about all you are going to find without a court order.I am a man of my word and when given in person I stand behind it and count honesty, trust and integrity among my biggest assets.I enjoy your blog and don't let the PETTY trolls out there get to ya,they are just jealous.

It's me said...

Pearls, for the most part I agree. I have posted here and there as Anony if (like you said) I'm going to tell something quite personal OR (not like you said) sometimes I want to point out something that everybody is avoiding and I just KNOW that everyone is going to freak on me, but it still needs to be said. Often it's not RUDE, but it's relevant. For the record, check the IP and you'll find anonymous wasn't me. ;) I don't have to "point things out" around here... you're very balanced in your posting.

Just my two cents

I post Anon but always use my name at the end - can't seem to get my Google identity username & password together.

FWIW, I work for NASA within the security group and there are NO (ZERO, NONE, ZILCH, NADA) secrets on the 'net. If we need to find you, believe me we can. I constantly harp to my kids that the social network pages such as F-book & M-Space are always and forever out there. NEVER post anything that you do not want everybody in the world to know. NEVER send pics that you don't want everyone to see. Total caution & a bit of paranoia is the keyword.
